    * Mmh, I must amend my notes an modicum to say that I *do* very much get the presence of CAOL ILA here, but with the way this is blended, it comes out as a relatively unpeated version of it. It is in fact just as present as the Highland Park, if not more. Very similar with regards to yellow fruits they are, Caol Ila and Highland Park, if you look beyond the bourbon here, and the sherry there. At least to me. Cola gummies, flinty. The end.

Highland Park and Arran taking center stage in the 18 year old. The Caol Ila I get in the NAS I do not get here. Very light peat, not much more than a Highland Park. Pronounced bitterness, bitter oranges. Blood oranges, peaches, pineapples, grapefruit, pomegranate. Cloves, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, cardamom, brown Christmas spices. Green pepper, black pepper. Honey and treacle. Marzipan. Cayenne pepper powder. Some sort of spice funk. Funky barrels. Medium dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa powder, dusty, caramel, toffee. Gets very rich and chocolaty. AND *SALTY*! One of the saltiest whiskies you'll find out there. Has that un-chill filtered frozen yogurt note. Bit of waxy malt. Oat biscuits, digestives. Half a teaspoon of water, give it 30 minutes. New bottle, first two glasses. Very well vatted. INTENSE!!
