Glendronach 1993 / 26 Year Old / Scotchwhisky.com
Product Description

A 1993-vintage single cask Glendronach aged for 26 years and bottled for now-closed whisky website Scotchwhisky.com. Unfortunately, the whisky didn't arrive before it closed, so it now serves as a tribute to the great work of all the writers who helped create the site. The whisky lives up to the honour, with rich fruit and spice perfectly integrated and showing off the best of Glendronach's excellent PX sherry casks.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

Berries and cherries lead – blackcurrants, glacé and maraschino with an underlying layer of old damp oak and a hint of forest floor. Marzipan and custard notes pull themselves through the wood, with spiced caramel, spiced fruit loaf and brown sugar stirred through with nutmeg. Leafy notes hide at the back, both freshly yellowing, and brown and crunchy autumnal leaves, with a touch of chamois leather.

    • Palate

The forest notes lead, with leaves, bark and earthy floor quickly joined by savoury raisins and plump sultanas. Sweet cinnamon spice builds, with accompanying dried and preserved cherries, bobbly liquorice allsorts and dark polished oak tables. The oak turns into rich old-spirit rancio, with gentle char, soft spice and a touch of buttered toast.

    • Finish

The fruit rolls up into a rich berry compote, sprinkled with fresh mint and fading to leave polished oak.
