A 12-year-old Speyside single malt from indie bottler Elixir Distillers, made at a secret distillery in Speyside and matured in just three ex-sherry puncheons, before being bottled in 2021 as part of the Reserve Casks Parcel No.6. Aromas of dark muscovado sugar, black tea, dried figs and apricots, Pedro Ximenez sherry, ground cinnamon and fruitcake fill the nose, complemented by notes of sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate, raisins, pistachio nuts, orange oil, clove and prunes throughout the palate.

The tasting notes are spot on. I got the brown sugar and dried fruits on the nose straight away. I had it neat and with a drop of water and found that the water didn't add much to it. I'll revisit in a few weeks. Non chill filtered and no colour. What more can you ask for? Just wish I'd ordered 2 bottles instead of 1!
