  • Fielden Rye Whisky
Product Description

This rye whisky is made using heritage grains from regenerative farming projects across England. Fielden was created in collaboration with archaeobotanist John Letts who has been studying and growing ancient cereals for the past 30 years. Pot distilled and aged in a combination of American oak and selected wine casks – including Sauternes and Moscatel – this is a big, chewy whisky with plenty of character. You can expect notes of brambles and wildflowers with fresh sourdough, vanilla caramel, black pepper and a hint of spearmint.

Served this up to some friends recently at aperitif moment and it went down really well Mike Clapp, The Whisky Exchange

A real surprise. Sweet marzipan and almond on the nose, followed by earthy spice and a flavour that reminds me of German Christmas biscuits. Great texture, well balanced, and genuinely unique, especially at the price. One I keep wanting to go back to.

This was a real surprise and easily earns five stars. The nose is immediately distinctive and inviting with marzipan, almond and a clear, sweet aroma that really stands out and draws you in. For me on the palate, it follows through perfectly, with earthy spice and sweetness combining in a way that reminds me of German Christmas biscuits, spicy, slightly bready, and comforting rather than buttery. I did get the oak, with a faint floral note that perhaps you could say has some dark berry in the background, but not prominent. The mouthfeel is notably textured, giving it real presence, and the ABV is well judged, enough kick to carry the flavours without losing balance or smoothness. What really stands out is how unique it feels; I’ve not had anything quite like it. Combined with the regenerative farming ethos and strong overall presentation, this feels like excellent value for money. It’s the kind of whisky I already want to go back to, even just to smell, and one I’d happily buy again.

I have had the opportunity to try a dram of this and let me say this, pastry crust and sweet spice ! The UK is stepping up in rye whisky and this is a nice example of a good rye. It's not exactly American but you do get that herbal, field of grain meadow minty flavours. This is just as good as any us rye tho a tad young, but that youth does not bring down any points for me.

A fantastic dram! A young whisky, which can felt on the nose. However, the spicy flower nosing is then punches you with a sweet, powerful blend of spice, caramel and dried fruit on the taste. This is unlike I have ever tasted. Beautiful.
