Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Joe Rogers (The Whisky Exchange)
Nose
Grassy, scorched padron peppers, cactus tacos (nopales) with a squeeze of lime, bandages and precise mineral peat smoke.
Palate
A mezcal margarita with a whole platter of grilled asparagus and fresh snap peas. Seawater, freshly cut grass, green twigs, ferns, sage, gentian root, apple cordial, lemon thyme.
Finish
Sweet peat. Water brings out an ashy dimension and more medicinal notes. Great stuff.
The First Barbecue of the Year
This crisp, refreshing Caol Ila impressed us with its green notes and well-integrated peat. In searching for whiskies to represent spring, we were very happy to find this cask, which we felt perfectly captured the sense of grilling vegetables on a mild and sunny day. It’s a smoky dram that’s ideal for the springtime.
The Seasons: Spring
The fourth and final instalment in our series, The Seasons, finds this aromatic Caol Ila paired with a juicy Linkwood and a bright, herbal Glentauchers. Each bottling in the collection is from a single cask, specially selected for its quality and character. In an effort to give a clear expression of the spirit, each one is presented without chill-filtration or added colouring, exactly as it should be.

Customer Reviews
(1 Review)
Tried this whisky at the exchange and enjoyed this enough to buy the bottle, the ABV at nearly 60 is at the high end, however it sips beautifully with a touch of water. This however to me will give me great pleasure enjoying a dram or two on special occasions
