Product Description

There aren't many bottlings from Dailuaine, distillery or independent, and this sticks out as even rarer due to it being one of the fabled Manager's drams - single casks chosen by the distillery managers and originally given to friends of the distillery.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

    • Nose

Fresh and grassy, but quickly joined by a rich oiliness with brioche and rum-soaked sultanas. A pleasant sweetness in there – candied lemon peel, cinnamon, and bread dough.

    • Palate

The sherry-cask influence makes itself heard with an abundance of Christmas cake spices – cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, along with mixed fruit peel and Seville orange marmalade, but this is not a ‘heavy’ whisky – there is good poise and balance here, as well as a cleansing freshness from the spirit. A faintly toasty note, too, with some spiciness and sweetness from the cask.

    • Finish

Mouth-enveloping and warm, the aromatic spiciness lasts for some time, along with an appealing bready note and some fresh citrus.

    • Comment

For me, this definitely needs water to soften the prickle and to let the warm spiciness of this whisky gently unfurl, but when it does, it is very rewarding.
