Product Description
To celebrate Glenfarclas 15 Year Old being named as our Whisky of the Year for 2013-14, we asked the distillery to create a high-strength edition of this TWE favourite exclusively for us. Bottled at 103° proof, this is rich and spicy; a drop of water brings out extra sweetness and notes of fruit cake and cherries.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Rocky
Nose
Intense, with sherry-soaked raisins, Madeira cake, sweet nutmeg spice, orange peel and a hint of butterscotch all present.
Palate
Big, bold, warming and spicy, with a rich Moscatel-sherry-like texture. Spicy notes of liquorice, clove and oak intermingle with dates, prunes and a hint of sweet honey.
Finish
Long and intense, with the clove lingering.
Tasting notes by Billy A
Nose
Thick, rich and heavy, with raisin jam and dates, tempered by some fresher notes – vanilla toffee and cooking apples. Nuttiness and spice sit behind that, along with hot leather car seats, orange peel and a touch of mulled wine. Dundee cake, fresh from the boot of the car at a summer picnic?.
Palate
Sweet, spicy and intense, with punchy Eccles cakes slowly turning darker, to damp oak and unsweetened liquorice pastilles. There are sour plums, cinnamon sticks and nutmeg, and lots of rich, dark, fruit cake. Water works well, especially if you're not in the mood for a sherry-laden punch in the mouth – it intensifies the sweet notes, while turning down the overall volume. More raisins, sultanas and maraschino cherries appear, along with a bit of sweet spice and dark chocolate.
Finish
Unsweetened 100% cocoa chocolate, cherries, old oak and some barrel char, with fruit cake hanging around once the rest has faded.
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose
An explosion in a spice factory. A swathe of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, followed by boozy sultanas and hot-cross-bun dough, then a clean note of barley and honeyed fruit.
Palate
If you're feeling brave, you can try this neat, but a drop of water would be sensible – do so, and you're rewarded with rich, spicy fruit cake, balanced by earthy liquorice and a backbone of classy oak.
Finish
The boozy fruit and rich spices fight it out.

A typical Glenfarclas dram. Rich and smooth. Recommend
Top shelf Glenfarclas. Buy buy buy it!!
Wonderfully rich with a peppery note. A real winter treat. Treat it with care though, a few drops of water will open in up and reveal tasty fruitcake and spices. Just buy it!
Very good, but it can’t compete with the Glendronach from 1995 wich I bought from The Whisky Exchange
Got this as a gift for 15 years service - come with some nice engraving on the side of the bottle. A lovely drop and for me, I do need just a little water added. As I've gotten older the stronger drinks are agreeing with me less & less!
