Audemus Spirits produce this Pink Pepper Gin in a rotavap in a micro-distillery in the Cognac region of France. The botanicals include pink peppercorns, cardamom, juniper and local honey. This works well as a G&T, with ice, or adds spiciness to an gin-based cocktail.

I have my better half to thank for introducing me to this fantastic gin. It is now, without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite gin. This is a big gin and is unmistakeable from any other. Pepper is what you are promised and pepper is what you get. On the nose the pink peppercorns are particularly pungent, with hints of citrus and other savoury scents taking a back seat. The palate however is a lot more delicate and complex than the nose would have you believe. While pepper and juniper are the overarching flavours, the pepper is mild and carries no heat to it as it does in many other pepper infused spirits; which means that the other subtle flavours have their day. This is a gin that stands up exceedingly well in a good quality tonic owing the the bold palate. It is also smooth enough to make a fantastic martini and I think it could make a fantastic addition to a cocktail if picked up by a more experienced mixologist than I. Ultimately, you need to try this gin! It stands out from the crowd in what has become a huge and exceedingly competitive market.
